While we normally associate the term "hormonal issues" with moody teenagers or menopausal women, statistics reveal that almost 80 percent of women suffer from hormonal imbalance at some point in their lives.
The female hormonal system and its regulation throughout a woman’s life-cycle from the onset of puberty through to the post-menopausal years requires a complex interaction and response from various glands and organs – just like a musical symphony. If one instrument is out – you’ll hear it; if one hormone is out, you’ll feel it.
Suffering from the 3P’s or 3M’s?
When the hormonal system is out of balance or functioning improperly; a woman can experience a wide variety of symptoms depending on her age. You might have heard of suffering from the 3 P’s: Puberty, PMS or Peri-Menopausal Symptoms or the 3 M’s: Menstrual Cramps, Menopause and Mental Anxiety!?
Most common symptoms are:
All these symptoms can have a wide range of causes originating from both within and outside the body. Hormone fluctuations occur naturally, such as in puberty, menopause and peri-menopause. However, hormone imbalance may also be caused by toxins or an unbalanced lifestyle. Habits such as drinking alcohol and smoking; eating a high-sugar and refined-carbohydrate diet; consuming dairy and gluten combined with too little exercise and being chronically stressed are huge contributors to imbalanced hormones..
Women do NOT need to suffer
One could think that menstrual dysfunction in a women’s reproductive years through to elevated menopausal symptoms as the years progress are normal and something we have to put up with. No, we don’t.
We need to figure out what creates these imbalances and then treat the underlying cause(s) and create balance to watch the symptoms get better and disappear.

Any organism that lives and feeds off another organism is called a parasite (I heard of some humans that live that way too ;o)) Intestinal parasites – the one we are talking about here – are organisms, usually worms, that feed off your nutrition or your body.
While it is a common belief that parasitic worms are restricted to poverty-stricken areas or third world countries, the truth is that they’re very much a part of our modern lives.
Parasites can come into the body through exposure to contaminated food and water, pets, mosquitoes and fleas as well as through sexual transmission.
Meat, especially Pork, raw fish and shellfish happen to be especially rich in heat tolerant parasites. Also fruit and vegetables can carry parasites and if you have ever been overseas there is actually a very good chance that you could have a parasite infestation.
It is estimated that 85% of the world’s population is infested with parasites (1).
With places like day care centres, schools or simply where many people come into close physical contact; it is not possible to fully control transmission from those who – for instance – have pets in the home or may not practice proper hygiene. Under these conditions it is possible that anyone can contract intestinal worms.
The many Health Challenges caused by Parasites
Because parasites come in diverse types – mainly protozoa and helminthes – they can cause a very wide range of problems.
As mentioned before the most common symptoms are severe bloating, cramps, constipation, diarrhoea. However, these parasites and their eggs can travel to various organs such as the liver where they can cause abscesses and cirrhosis (2, 3). They can also migrate to the lungs causing pneumonia and into the joints, brain, muscles, oesophagus and skin where they cause hyper inflammatory processes (4). Others live of your red blood cells, causing anaemia. Some lay eggs that can cause itching, irritability.
Chronic parasitic infections are linked with intestinal permeability and leaky gut, irritable bowel syndrome, irregular bowel movements, malabsorption, gastritis, acid reflux, skin disorders, joint pain, seasonal and food allergies and decreased immunity (5, 6, 7).
Trouble sleeping, skin irritations, mood changes, and muscle pain can all be caused by the toxins that parasites release into the bloodstream. These toxins often cause anxiety, which can manifest itself in different ways. When these toxins interact with your neurotransmitters or blood cells, they can cause mood swings or skin irritation. Also waking up in the middle of the night or grinding your teeth in your sleep are signs that your body is experiencing anxiety while you rest.
If you have tried countless approaches to heal your gut and relieve your symptoms without any success, a parasite could be the underlying cause for many of your unexplained and unresolved symptoms.
A healthy, natural intestinal flora is not only an integral part of a properly functioning digestive system, it is vital. We know these days, that an unbalanced microbiome is linked to Autoimmune diseases and even mental diseases.
It is one thing to get the right balance of “good and bad” bacteria living in your gut, but it is another task to get rid of parasites.
The big problem in getting to the bottom of this (pun intended) is that the mainstream medical system really doesn’t have a way to detect most forms of parasites. They give you drugs for the symptoms, but essentially the parasites aren’t removed during that process.
How do we get rid of Parasites?
Natural is best. You can add lots of garlic and onions to your diet and also have at least 3 tablespoons of Coconut Oil daily.
Beside that, it is recommended to take a concentrated blend of herbs and plants that have a proven history of stimulating digestive function and help the body to protect itself against unhealthy intestinal bacteria. The right blend will help to eliminate many gastrointestinal organisms including intestinal worms, yeast and fungi while sparing the beneficial gut bacteria.
I recommend Para Cleanse. This unique concentrated blend of herbal and botanical ingredients is designed to help to rid your body of intestinal worms in addition to assisting you in maintaining healthy bowel flora.
Containing two herbs from the species classically known as ‘wormwood’; traditionally these bitter herbs with their powerful essential oils are used against intestinal worms for their vermifuge (worm expelling) or antihelmintic (worm killing) actions.
In addition to this ability to remove intestinal worms, the carefully selected and potent blend of naturally occurring plant derived ingredients in Para Cleanse can also assist the body in removing dysbiotic bacteria, yeasts and fungi. Para Cleanse helps to eliminate many of the gastrointestinal organisms linked to gut inflammation and gut permeability as well as reducing the risk of further infestation.
The synergistic blend acts as a tonic for the digestive system and helps to support normal, healthy digestive function. By aiding the body to keep healthy bowel flora and support healthy digestion, Para Cleanse can help you to maintain your overall health and wellness.
You may receive additional benefits from combining this product with: Colostrum, Probiotic (actually a Symbiotic with PRE and PRObiotics that when combined provides 1.5 TRILLION good bacteria in ONE serving), Digestive Enzymes, Aloe Vera.
Wellbeing Benefits of a Parasite Cleanse
Don't let Parasites effect your health and wellbeing in a small or more serious way!
Take action today!
Consider a cleanse at least once a year - two rounds of 25 days - that's all it takes.
When most people think of mouthwash one brand comes to mind - Listerine. It’s been around for decades, has been used by our parents and so we take it too without asking questions, right? I have been guilty too with toothpaste and shampoo and other personal care products – but not anymore.
Considering there are 13,000 chemicals used in cosmetics and personal care products and only about 10 percent have been evaluated for safety, a health-conscious person like yourself simply must start asking questions!
For the purist in natural living, the question that must be asked is, “Is Listerine still my mouthwash of choice?”.
The noxious and unsafe alcohols in Listerine - over 20% !!! - cause a drying effect and burning sensation in the mouth, killing off good bacteria and important cells, and increasing your risk of oral cancer.
However, a natural mouthwash that is alcohol free and preferably ones containing the active ingredient stabilised chlorine dioxide provides the benefits of fresher breath as well as stronger healthier teeth and gums without any side effects.
We love Modere Mouth Rinse (and Toothpaste) which not only ticks all the boxes:
... but has an amazing 100 different uses! This makes it the best mouthwash (and possibly the best multi-purpose product) you can have in your home!
Sit back and settle in as we run through the list of what this amazing Mouth Rinse can be used for:

Unless you are living a stress-free live and having a super healthy gut and therefore a strong immune system you can easily catch a cold or get the flue.
Both are infectious diseases of the respiratory tract (throat, nose, airways, lungs) that share many similar symptoms (e.g. mild fever, nasal congestion or discharge, cough, headache, fatigue), they are distinctly different conditions. Generally speaking, cold symptoms come on slowly and are confined to the nose and throat. Flu symptoms tend to come on faster affecting the nose, throat and chest and may be accompanied by severe body aches and pains, high fever and shivering.
Immune Health - A powerful combination
Medicinal herbs have been used safely and effectively since the time of recorded history. Herbs are still the primary source of health care for 80% of the world. Many of today's wonder drugs were derived from traditional herbal formulations. It is a shame that in order to make huge profits pharmaceutical companies tinker with something so natural.
Combinations of herbs work better than they do singly, because specific combinations allow inclusion of herbs that can work at different aspects and stages of need. Grouping herbs with similar properties means the formulation is more effective, more potent and more useful across a broader spectrum of health challenges.
Let’s look at the 8 ingredients used in Immune Health - our family's "go to" supplement as soon as we feel the beginnings of a sore throat or like we are fighting something off - if you get onto it fast enough - the illness never has a chance to develop - GREAT STUFF!
1. MULLEIN Verbascum spp.
MEDICINAL: Mullein is used as a pain killer and to bring on sleep. Our body heals itself while we sleep, so this is helpful when we are unwell. Mullein loosens mucous, making it useful for treating lung ailments. It also strengthens the lymphatic system. The function of the lymphatic system is really part of the immune system. The lymphatic system helps fight infection in many ways such as:
¨ Helping to make special white blood cells (lymphocytes) that produce antibodies
¨ Having other blood cells called macrophages inside the lymph nodes which swallow up and kill any foreign particles, for example germs.
2. IRISH MOSS Chondrus Crispus
Irish moss has long been recognised for its ability to cure and abate the symptoms of colds and flu, thus it forms an effective barrier to the ills of winter. Irish moss contains potassium chloride, this chemical helps to dissolve catarrhs, which are responsible for the congestion associated with chesty coughs.
The respiratory ailments Irish moss has been reported to alleviate include, sore throats, bronchitis and pneumonia, there are even reports that indicate Irish moss exhibited activity against tuberculosis.
Irish moss also contains several natural antimicrobial and anti viral agents which not only prevents colds and flu's, but Irish moss is reported to eradicate a wide range of infections in sufferers, reducing valuable time lost to the ills we all encounter every day.
Irish moss also contains significant amounts of iodine, the thyroid gland exhibits a requirement for this ion, thus iodine is required for proper thyroid gland function. Iodine plays an important role in our ability to fight disease. Germs can gain access to the blood through cuts in the skin, through the nasal membranes and throat passages, or via the intestinal tract, or practically anywhere there is a rich supply blood close to an external surface. Iodine has a limited antimicrobial role, as blood circulates through the body it passes through the thyroid gland, iodine is secreted in to the blood stream through the thyroid, where it kills many of the weaker germs, whilst weakening some of the stronger germs.
Iodine also has other functions in the body, e.g. it aids in the release of tension, especially nervous tension, which enhances the overall sense of well-being.
Other ailments Irish moss is reported to be effective against include, cancer and radiation poisoning (possibly because of the iodine content of Irish moss), effective against halitosis, inflammation, against dysentery and clears up many bladder complaints.
3. ECHINACEA Echinacea purpurea
MEDICINAL: Echinacea, also known as Purple Coneflower, is a natural antibiotic and immune system stimulator, helping to build resistance to colds, flus, and infections. It increases the production of white blood cells, and improves the lymph glands. This herb is like the function of Interferon, the body's own powerful protein that throws up a remarkably strong wall of resistance to infections. The tea from this herb should be used in all infections, and has been used in treating skin cancers and other cancers. Please note that if you suffer from any auto-immune disorder, you should use Echinacea, or any other immune stimulant herb, only under the guidance of a professional, such as a naturopathic doctor, TCM practitioner, etc.
4. HYSSOP Hysoppus officinalis
MEDICINAL: Hyssop is used in treating lung ailments. The leaves have been applied to wounds to aid in healing. The tea is also used to soothe sore throats. It has been used to inhibit the growth of the herpes simplex virus.
5. ROSEMARY Rosmarinus officinalis
MEDICINAL: The essential oil of Rosemary is used in aromatherapy as an inhalant and decongestant, and to enhance memory and clear concentration. It is also used in lotions to ease arthritis and muscle pain. Rosemary is a stimulant of the circulatory system. It is used to treat bites and stings externally. Internally it is used to treat migraines, bad breath, and to stimulate the sexual organs.
(The inclusion of Rosemary in the VMM formulation may be for its decongestant properties, for relief of muscular aches and pains associated with influenza, to improve the circulation of all the other herbs throughout the body and of course to help with the bad breath associated with illness!!)
6. THYME Thymus spp.
MEDICINAL: Thyme is a powerful antiseptic. It is used in cases of bronchial ailments and intestinal disturbances. It is good for colic and colds. Interestingly it is also used as an antiseptic against tooth decay, and destroys fungal infections as in athlete's foot and skin parasites such as crabs and lice.
(I'd try chewing a VMM if I had toothache or crushing a tablet and making a poultice with Eliminator and applying that to the tooth or to the athlete's foot fungus for that matter!!)
7. HAWTHORN Crataegus oxycantha
MEDICINAL: Hawthorn is effective for curing insomnia. (Good when you are unwell) Hawthorn has been used for centuries in treating heart disease, as regular use strengthens the heart muscles, and to prevent arteriosclerosis, angina, and poor heart action.
8. PANAX GINSENG
Panax ginseng contains compounds known as adaptogens. Adaptogens are believed to be helpful for people dealing with physical and/or emotional stress.
Studies of Western herbal medicine show that panax ginseng's ability to regulate the immune system can assist in the prevention of colds, flu, and some forms of cancer.
All the potential uses of the ginseng root have not been fully explored; however, in both laboratory studies of humans and animals, panax ginseng proved successful in relaxing the muscles of the lungs. By relaxing the muscles of the lungs that control the airway, ginseng may be able to provide some relief for symptoms associated with asthma, constriction of the airways, and other lung diseases.
WELL-BEING BENEFITS OF IMMUNE HEALTH
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a flower like a Rose or a fresh herb like Rosemary, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of Essential Oils (EO). EOs are organic compounds extracted from seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants with tremendous healing properties.
Essential Oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty care, home cleaning and are most often used as natural medicine.
Using essential oils for healing purposes is often called aromatherapy, which is a holistic treatment seeking to improve physical, mental and emotional health. Like many other things we have been re-discovering EO and they are gaining more and more popularity – because they work.
For over 5,000 years, many different cultures have used these healing plant oils for a variety of health conditions including:
Composition and qualities of EO vary greatly. It is important to use high quality EO – not just for massages or a bath but even more so when using them for inhalation and oral ingestion.
EO can be used as single oils or in complex essential oil blends depending on the desired benefit.
Here are five high quality blends to support your daily well-being:
The soothing combination of oils blended can also help provide temporary relief from the symptoms of catarrh and colds. Precautions: Not to be used in children under two years of age without medical advice.
I personally wear the De-Stress Blend as a perfume on my neck, you know the spot below your ears? It smells divine and keeps me calm.
Try vaporising the blend during intense meetings or when studying, for greater attention span and productivity.
In Focus will also help reduce tension and stress to promote a sense of confidence and well-being.
This delightfully soothing blend is ideal for promoting a sense of calm and rest and beneficial for helping to provide temporary relief from sleeplessness and insomnia.

Story at-a-glance Minerals are the basic building blocks of our bodies. NONE of the functions of the body can occur properly without ALL the minerals present in the diet.
As our soils are depleted our food contains much less nutrition than it used to. The consumption of processed foods, stress, toxins and lifestyle choices – means we are not receiving all of the nutritional requirements our body needs to operate at optimum efficiency and underpin our overall well-being. Good nutrition is a cornerstone of good health.
Although the body can manufacture a few vitamins, it cannot manufacture minerals or trace elements. When the body is unable to obtain the nutrients, minerals and trace elements it requires to ensure proper functioning in sufficient amounts, the long-term effects may affect general well-being or lead to conditions associated with inadequate nutrition, like chronic diseases.
Under these circumstances, holistic supplementation is the perfect answer to maximise the potential for optimum well-being. Supplementing with a Natural Colloidal Mineral Drink is the best way to achieve and maintain good health until old age.
What are minerals?
As such minerals are nothing more than elements - the very same elements that grace the periodic table inside a high school chemistry text book like chromium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and so on. However, they are the elements that comprise the entire universe, this earth, and everything on it, including you.
ALL bodily processes depend on Presence of ALL Minerals
While only 4% of the human body weight is mineral matter, minerals are the basic building blocks of our bodies, the ‘mortar and bricks’ if you like.
NONE of the functions of the body can occur properly without ALL the minerals present in the diet. Minerals are used for Tens of thousands of processes in the body, namely:
"Without Minerals, Vitamins are Useless” Dr. Linus Pauling
Chemical and electrical processes are occurring within your body every moment. These processes can only function correctly if the proper balance of minerals is continually being supplied to your system.
Minerals create a healthy environment in which the body, using vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and fats, can grow, function and heal itself. They are quite different from vitamins in their structure and the work they do, but the two enjoy an excellent working relationship.
Our Bodies cannot make Minerals
Although the body can manufacture a few vitamins, it cannot manufacture minerals or trace elements - they must come from our diet – including supplementation. As such, it is important to constantly replenish your body with the elements it expends daily.
Author Raymond Francis states: “We need a precise mixture of at least 59 essential nutrients on a daily basis to maintain health. A chronic shortage of even one nutrient will result in a cascade of events impairing function and causing disease.”
Dr. Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel Prizes said decades ago that: “You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.” Can this just be co-incidence that today we are seeing a huge increase in diseases like cancer, heart disease and stroke?
Almost Everyone is Deficient in Minerals
You might know the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. While this might have been true 50 to 100 years ago, these days you would have to eat TEN to get the same amount of nutrition.
There is strong scientific evidence that the mineral content of our food is dramatically less than it used to be as our soil is depleted by aggressive modern farming techniques and synthesized fertilisers (almost exclusively using nitrogen and phosphorous fertilisers on repeatedly farmed soil).
But man-made chemical fertilizers provide only enough mineral substance to support basic plant life. Numerous minerals essential to human life don’t get replenished.
Experts estimate that 90 percent of Americans suffer from mineral imbalance and deficiency. These numbers can’t be much better in Australia considering the low fruit and vegetable intake.
Beside not getting enough nutrition in the first place, we also deplete our bodies more and faster because of overexercise, stress and toxic emotions which means that even if you have been eating the perfect organic Paleo diet for years you are most likely still mineral deficient.
Mineral deficiencies have a proven causal role in almost all chronic degenerative diseases including cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, asthma, dermatitis, chronic fatigue, thyroid and adrenal issues, depression and cancer.
An effective Mineral Supplement is a Priority for everyone
Farmers understand supplementation is vital for their livestock, so why not us?
Many of us would consider adding a vitamin supplement to our diet, but few consider the importance of a mineral supplement. We already know that vitamins are ineffective without minerals. An effective mineral supplement is a priority for everyone – even those who feel healthy. By the time the body shows symptoms a critical mass of malfunctioning cells has been reached – you have been sick the whole time without feeling it!
The best way to supplement it with natural or wholefood supplements. When it comes to minerals a colloidal plant minerals is far superior than conventional poorly absorbed chelated mineral tablets. Experts agree that the practice of determining individual specific mineral deficiencies and then replacing them with artificially chelated (attached to an amino acid) minerals is not optimal and can cause further imbalances.
When minerals and trace minerals are in the body they are present in an ionic solution with either positive or negative charges resulting in what is known as a ‘dynamic equilibrium’. The body can “use minor changes in this equilibrium to create proper osmotic pressure and move nutrients to the areas that need them most and create electrical impulses that run the entire nervous system.” (American Medical Association. The American Medical Associations’ Encyclopedia of Medicine. Ed. Charles b. Clayman. Random House: 1989).
This same equilibrium is found in nature - in seas and moors where minerals and trace minerals have collected and concentrated in liquid ionic form for millions of years. These are present in the same basic balance found in blood and lymph! When we eat an apple, we do not just get the Potassium or Vitamin C. We get ALL nutrition at once and the body knows how to deal with it. Therefore, the best choice is to take a natural mineral source containing the right ratio of nutrition. IF you have excessive amounts of minerals in your diet, the excess is usually excreted and causes no harm.
The Neydharting Moor Liquid is full of activated, completely bio-available Minerals & Trace Minerals
The Colloidal Mineral I am taking daily comes from the Neydharting Moor in Austria. This at least 30,000 years old moor is still retaining all the treasured elements of the herbs with which it is formed. Neydharting Moor is NATURALLY rich in bio-minerals, trace-elements, vitamins, amino-acids, plant hormones, antioxidants and fatty acids in ratios that nature intended.
As Dr. Greg Emerson explains, trace minerals – minerals the body only needs very small amounts of - are also important in alkalinising the body and compensating for the accumulation of metabolic acids - they are one of the bodies main buffer systems. Supplementing with trace minerals is a rapid way to alkalise the body. However, supplementing with high concentrations of artificially chelated, targeted minerals does not re-establish pH in a balanced manner. The best way to balance the pH with minerals is to use the comprehensive, full spectrum of activated, completely bioavailable minerals as present in the Neydharting Moor liquid, in combination with a high-quality PRObiotic - containing both PRE- and PRObiotics - to maintain the flora of the gut. This prevents opportunistic bacteria, viruses and fungi from proliferating in an acidic environment.
Neydharting Moor lies below ground water level and is encased by glacial rock. With time, rocks and over 1000 herbs, plants and flowers have dissolved into the waters. 300 of these have been identified as having medicinal properties. It is impossible for science to recreate this liquid.
The health-giving benefits of the water have been known to man since 800BC and to animals long before that. The famous physician Paracelsus sent his patients there in the 16th century, believing he had discovered the ultimate elixir of life.
In this 'broken down' or 'pre-digested' state form, the elements can be readily absorbed and used by the body, providing a rich source of essential organic elements otherwise difficult to reliably obtain or digest.
Colloidal plant based minerals from the Neydharting Moor do not require digestion by our gastrointestinal tracts and are almost completely absorbed. Kirlian photographs of the Moor liquid show concentrated energy fields. This is important to note when we remember that all disease is related to impaired energy flow within the body. The energy fields in the Moor liquid have the power to stimulate the bodies electro-chemical fields and promote healing.
Research on the waters of the moor have shown anti-inflammatory effects, adrenal repair properties and a balancing effect on hormones.
Download this short write-up to discover the history of Neydharting Moor and the general analysis showing the naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and trace elements which are contained in the Moor. You’ll also find a brief listing of some of the naturally occurring traditionally recognised herbs and the physical symptoms or areas of the body which they are traditionally recognised to help.
The Natural Mineral Drink from the Neydharting Moor is an essential source of minerals and trace minerals for your daily nutritional needs.
It is recommended to take 10 ml twice daily.

When it comes to toxins in skin care, cosmetics and personal care products it is hard to find products that are safe and nontoxic. On the other side, Millions of women put on cosmetics every day without ever considering whether dangerous chemicals lurk inside the tube…
I’ve written before about toxins in personal care products, from toothpaste to make up. Now, another study has found that heavy metals in lipsticks and lip glosses are of concern.
Researchers from University of California, Berkeley tested 33 lipsticks and lip glosses commonly found in drugstores and department stores and used by young women in a California youth program. They detected lead, cadmium, chromium, aluminium and five other metals, some of which were found at levels that could raise potential health concerns.
The highest lead levels where found in brands like Procter & Gamble (Cover Girl brand), L’Oréal (L’Oréal, Body Shop and Maybelline brands) and Revlon as well as Dior.
The following results for lead content in a selection of lipsticks were obtained by scientists at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and reported in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (see there for complete list)
High Ingestion Rates
In terms of chemical exposure, that translates into ingesting or absorbing as much as 87 milligrams of product a day.
Now consider that exposure over the course of a lifetime of applying lipstick; that’s a significant level of lead and other toxins to ingest. Some sources speak of ingesting 3kg of lipstick in a lifetime….
Cumulative and long-term Exposure
While the dose of toxic metals might be low per application of lipsticks and lip gloss, the exposure to a little bit of a toxic chemical over an extended period can add up to harm.
The researchers compared what the women were likely ingesting in lip products to health standards for heavy metal consumption like those defined by the EPA for drinking water. They found that average lipstick or lip gloss use in these products resulted in women exceeding daily intake guidelines for aluminium, cadmium, chromium and manganese. In 10 of the products they looked at, daily use meant that a woman would exceed chromium intake recommendations by 100 percent.
High use of these makeup products could result in potential overexposure to aluminium, cadmium and manganese as well. Over time, exposure to high concentrations of manganese has been linked to toxicity in the nervous system.
No Safe Dose
The recent science indicates there is no safe level of lead exposure. Lead is a neurotoxin and can be dangerous at small doses. Medical experts are clear that any level of lead exposure is unhealthy.
Health Effects of Heavy Metals
Three Tips: What you can do to avoid Toxins in your Lipsticks and other Cosmetic Products
1. Buyer beware: Lead and other heavy metals don’t show up on ingredient labels – they are not exactly an ingredient, but rather a contaminant in the raw materials used. There can be other toxins present in your lipstick like Parabens, Acetate…
Use this handy guide to check the safety of ingredients in your personal care products.
2. Don’t fall for Organic or Natural: “Natural” Doesn’t Always Mean “Non-Toxic”. Both are marketing terms, used in a badly regulated market. Just because one ingredient might be truly organic that does not mean there are no other - toxic - ingredients in a product. And as far as natural goes - heavy metals are naturally occurring...
3. Choose a company you can trust: I recommend Modere, a brand that pioneered the Live Clean Philosophy back in 1987 – leaving out over 3000 potentially harmful ingredients from their personal care and home care products.
Modere Australia has an amazing toxin-free, vegan Make Up Range – I wrote a little summary about it here.
Modere Colour - MAKE UP that is DOWN TO EARTH
Stress is a normal part of life. A certain level of stress is healthy and can be motivating. That extra burst of adrenaline that helps you finish a task, perform well in sports, or meet any challenge is positive stress. It is a short-term physiological tension and added mental alertness that subsides when the challenge had been met, enabling you to relax and carry on.
However, this fast-paced world where economic troubles, health problems and other challenging encounters seem to be everywhere we turn, has made stress a companion in so many people’s lives.
In this case it’s a long-term tension, we become unbalanced and our brain stays in constant stress mode.
While we at NurtureNESS are talking about Reducing the Toxic Load in our Daily Life, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about getting a toxin out of our lives that most people don’t see as a toxin – STRESS. Chronically stressing out can not only kill brain cells – it can kill you!
Stress creates Toxins and nutritional Imbalances
When we worry and stress over things and situations, we might feel a certain way and start sweating for example. But our physical body produces “pollutants” or “stress toxins”. Over time, our body can get clogged up with these toxins which leave us vulnerable to all kinds of health problems including high blood pressure, ulcers, heart attack and diabetes.
Stress can even kill the beneficial bacteria that live in our gut. So you might want to think twice next time you start to worry about your gut health!
Prolonged stress adversely affects our nutritional status and needs, but our nutrition habits also affect how prone we are to stress, the intensity of our stress response, and our ability to cope with unavoidable stress!
One can say that stress is the cause of all dis-ease – it is known as The Killer Number 1.
Stress effects your whole body
1. Adrenal fatigue. While adrenal fatigue as a disorder is still under dispute in the medical community, most medical professionals will tell you that constantly stressing your adrenals - tiny little glands that sit atop your kidneys and produce cortisol, the stress hormone - leads to an imbalance that, left unchecked, can cause all kinds of problems from inflammation to depression.
2. Memory problems. Studies examining memory have found one major constant that affects what and how well we can remember things. The more stressed out we are, the more our short-term and long-term memories are affected. Chronic stress has also been linked to Alzheimer's disease and dementia in the elderly.
3. Weakened Immune System. Studies have shown that prolonged stress presents strain on the cellular functions that support the immune system. Stress causes hormone imbalances, poor sleep patterns, and wears down on organs. Suppressed immune function readily leads to increased sickness and reduced ability to combat ailments.
4. Unwanted Weight Gain. Some resources suggest that increased hormone cortisol levels related to stress cause weight gain. There is also a strong correlation between stress and weight gain suggesting that ongoing stress patterns generate poor nutrition habits, increased use of food as a support system, and improper meal schedules.
5. Musculoskeletal and Physiological Imbalances. Stress is a highly tacking process that depletes energy from bodily systems affecting work and activity performance. Stress is often a culprit for generating muscle tension throughout the body. This muscle tension is most commonly experienced in the spine with discomfort radiating through the neck, back, and shoulders. Neck tension is often diagnosed as the source of many headaches. Stress also greatly affects digestive function, reproductive organ health, and hormone balance. One can see how readily stress generates hormone and energy imbalances especially for those who have skin disorders like acne and eczema.
6. Aging faster. Look at someone's brain scan and you can't tell their chronological age, but you can tell what age their body thinks it is. The more stress you are under, the "older" your brain looks and acts. All the wrinkle cream in the world can't help you if you are a die-hard stress case.
7. Reduced Quality of Life and Social Relationships. Most people have difficulty managing stress and associate themselves with the factors causing this stress. Without managing stress, this negative energy manifests into emotions and physical reactions. As social beings, others encountering someone else's stress manifestations will either facilitate these stress reactions further (like attracts like) making the environment even worse. Or, those who are sensitive to others' stress responses will choose to remove themselves from this social environment. Stress can adversely affect our relationships with others causing us to lose healthy relationships and foster further negative social relationships.

Nurture your body with that little extra
Unless you have been eating the perfect diet with fruit and vegetables grown on soil full of minerals and the meat of happy, hormone and antibiotic free animals, and never took drugs and antibiotics you might just need to a little bit to support your stressed cells to regenerate… (wake up - stop dreaming!)
If you are like most people, all the billion cells in your amazing body need DAILY supplementation of the Essential Nutrition: Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants and Probiotics as we simply cannot get the required amounts from our food anymore…
A stressed system has an even higher need of these basics plus requires some extra support.

As Bestselling Author Raymond Francis writes in his book “Never Be Sick Again”: There is only One Disease: Malfunctioning cells. All cell malfunction can be reduced to Two Causes: Deficiency and Toxicity.
By addressing the Two Causes through the Six Pathways (Nutrition, Toxin, Psychological, Physical, Genetic, Medical) almost all disease can be prevented or reversed.
The potential for health and longevity is far greater than we realize – or are achieving. Modern medicine suppresses symptoms rather than addressing causes, so disease remains chronic. By learning how to optimize our direction on each of the Six Pathways, we can put ourselves in control of our health, happiness, and longevity.
This article – Part 1 - focuses on Toxins and Toxic Overload and how to reduce it for better health
Not just modern medicine jeopardises our health – Over 80,000 chemicals flow through our system of commerce, and many are going straight into our bodies with numerous being toxic and therefore causing disease.
13,000 chemicals are used in cosmetics
Did you know, almost 13,000 chemicals are used in cosmetics, and only about 10 percent have been evaluated for safety? What does this mean for a health-conscious person like yourself? When you use body lotion, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, skin care or make up you're taking a chance that you're applying harmful chemicals to your body.
They enter your bloodstream within 26 seconds
Women put an average of 168 chemicals on their bodies daily. These chemicals can be carcinogenic, cause skin irritation, accumulate in your organs, are neurotoxic or hormone-disruptors that create havoc in your body and compromise your health. It only takes 26 seconds for what you apply to your skin to be absorbed into your bloodstream. Companies like to label their products using words like Botanical, Natural and Organic – unfortunately that doesn’t mean much these days. Just because they put in any of this type of ingredients IT DOES NOT MEAN they are leaving the toxic ones out! (I checked the labels of products sold in Health-Food stores and I can confirm this sad truth from my own experience.)
Not sure which toxins are harmful.?

Why you need it and tips for getting restful sleep
Why Is Sleep Important?
You probably heard before that sleep is important for your health. Sleep can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. As sleep plays such a vital role your health and well-being throughout your whole life it is crucial to get:
+ enough sleep
+ get good quality sleep
+ sleep at the right times.
During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development.
The damage from sleep deficiency - too short or bad quality sleep - can occur in an instant (such as an accident), or it can harm you over time by raising your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. It also effects your waist line.
+ Healthy Brain Function including improved learning, better decision making, more creativity
+ Emotional Well-Being including problem solving, controlling your emotions and behaviour
+ Daytime Performance and Safety so you don’t suffer from potentially deadly micro-sleeps and instead function well throughout the day. After several nights of losing sleep—even a loss of just 1–2 hours per night—your ability to function suffers as if you haven't slept at all for a day or two.
+ Healthy growth and development – especially in in children and teens
+ Physical Health including healing and repair of cells. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. Sleep also keeps your immune system healthy to fight infections.
The effects of sleep deprivation (from helpguide.org)
While it may seem like losing sleep isn't such a big deal, sleep deprivation has a wide range of negative effects that go way beyond daytime drowsiness. Lack of sleep affects your judgment, coordination, and reaction times. In fact, sleep deprivation can affect you just as much as being drunk.
The effects include:
Sleep deprivation can add to your waistline
Sleep also affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) level. Sleep deficiency results in a higher than normal blood sugar level, which may increase your risk for diabetes.
So, the more sleep you lose, the more food your body will crave.
Not enough sleep can be fatal – for you and others
Some people aren't aware of the risks of sleep deficiency. In fact, they may not even realize that they're sleep deficient. Even with limited or poor-quality sleep, they may still think that they can function well.
For example, drowsy drivers may feel capable of driving. Yet, studies show that sleep deficiency harms your driving ability as much as, or more than, being drunk. It's estimated that driver sleepiness is a factor in about 100,000 car accidents each year, resulting in about 1,500 deaths.
Drivers aren't the only ones affected by sleep deficiency. It can affect people in all lines of work, including you, dear reader and the effects might not just be on a personal level but can cause large-scale damage when human errors cause tragic accidents, such as nuclear reactor meltdowns, grounding of large ships, and aviation accidents.
How much sleep do you need?
For adults under 65 it is recommended to have 7-9h of good quality sleep each night. The best way to figure out if you're meeting your sleep needs is to evaluate how you feel as you go about your day. If you're logging enough sleep hours, you'll feel energetic and alert all day long, from the moment you wake up until your regular bedtime. You could be fine with 6 hours or may need 10.
How to get a good night sleep?
+ Stick to a regular sleep schedule – your body has an inner clock
+ Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, cool and tidy
+ Don’t eat too late and avoid stimulating drinks
+ Do something relaxing before bedtime like a meditation, a hot bath
+ Count your blessings and be grateful for what the day brought to you
+ Any problems, worries that cross your mind – WRITE them down to deal with them another time – it’s important to get them out of your head so you can rest assured “they won’t run away”
+ Use Essential Oil Blends or natural products to provide a gentle and natural way to help you drift away into restful sleep so you can awake refreshed and ready to conquer your day.
I personally like and recommend “Sleep” from Modere (here is the alternative for USA)
Sleep’s calming qualities of lavender, petitgrain, Roman chamomile, valerian and Indian sandalwood will let you drift away. This special blend also helps to relieve sleeplessness and insomnia.

Hi there! I am Ellen and I’m into all things well-being, self-care, healthy eating, clean living and emotional balance, personal growth.
Let’s be the best and healthiest person we can be!
I love nature and the sunshine, Pilates and Yoga, and of course my little fur baby and my wonderful partner.
My motto is “Health is a Habit and Happiness is a Choice”.
As a well-being advocate I empower health conscious people to make better choices regarding the only two causes of disease: toxicity and deficiency. For example, by reducing our daily toxic load with better food choices and the use of toxin-free personal care products on one side and enhancing nutrition intake on the other side. This and more will significantly improve our life.
As a Psychosomatic Therapist and a Trained John Demartini Method Facilitator I am passionate about empowering people in dissolving any internal or external emotional stress and conflict (toxic emotions) – which when left unresolved will not only hinder us in living our full potential, but also can easily manifest in physical disease.
I enjoy researching, sharing and educating throughout my wellness business and endeavour to provide you helpful information here so you can live a healthy life till old age, feel energetic and can enjoy doing the things you love.
