Any organism that lives and feeds off another organism is called a parasite (I heard of some humans that live that way too ;o)) Intestinal parasites – the one we are talking about here – are organisms, usually worms, that feed off your nutrition or your body.

Unless you are living a stress-free live and having a super healthy gut and therefore a strong immune system you can easily catch a cold or get the flue.

2. IRISH MOSS Chondrus Crispus
Irish moss has long been recognised for its ability to cure and abate the symptoms of colds and flu, thus it forms an effective barrier to the ills of winter. Irish moss contains potassium chloride, this chemical helps to dissolve catarrhs, which are responsible for the congestion associated with chesty coughs.
The respiratory ailments Irish moss has been reported to alleviate include, sore throats, bronchitis and pneumonia, there are even reports that indicate Irish moss exhibited activity against tuberculosis.
Irish moss also contains several natural antimicrobial and anti viral agents which not only prevents colds and flu's, but Irish moss is reported to eradicate a wide range of infections in sufferers, reducing valuable time lost to the ills we all encounter every day.
Irish moss also contains significant amounts of iodine, the thyroid gland exhibits a requirement for this ion, thus iodine is required for proper thyroid gland function. 3. ECHINACEA Echinacea purpurea
MEDICINAL: Echinacea, also known as Purple Coneflower, is a natural antibiotic and immune system stimulator, helping to build resistance to colds, flus, and infections. It increases the production of white blood cells, and improves the lymph glands. This herb is like the function of Interferon, the body's own powerful protein that throws up a remarkably strong wall of resistance to infections. The tea from this herb should be used in all infections, and has been used in treating skin cancers and other cancers. Please note that if you suffer from any auto-immune disorder, you should use Echinacea, or any other immune stimulant herb, only under the guidance of a professional, such as a naturopathic doctor, TCM practitioner, etc.
4. HYSSOP Hysoppus officinalis
MEDICINAL: Hyssop is used in treating lung ailments. The leaves have been applied to wounds to aid in healing. The tea is also used to soothe sore throats. It has been used to inhibit the growth of the herpes simplex virus.
5. ROSEMARY Rosmarinus officinalis
MEDICINAL: The essential oil of Rosemary is used in aromatherapy as an inhalant and decongestant, and to enhance memory and clear concentration. It is also used in lotions to ease arthritis and muscle pain. Rosemary is a stimulant of the circulatory system. It is used to treat bites and stings externally. Internally it is used to treat migraines, bad breath, and to stimulate the sexual organs.

6. THYME Thymus spp.

(I'd try chewing a VMM if I had toothache or crushing a tablet and making a poultice with Eliminator and applying that to the tooth or to the athlete's foot fungus for that matter!!)
7. HAWTHORN Crataegus oxycantha
MEDICINAL: Hawthorn is effective for curing insomnia. (Good when you are unwell) Hawthorn has been used for centuries in treating heart disease, as regular use strengthens the heart muscles, and to prevent arteriosclerosis, angina, and poor heart action.
8. PANAX GINSENG
Panax ginseng contains compounds known as adaptogens. Adaptogens are believed to be helpful for people dealing with physical and/or emotional stress.
Studies of Western herbal medicine show that panax ginseng's ability to regulate the immune system can assist in the prevention of colds, flu, and some forms of cancer.
All the potential uses of the ginseng root have not been fully explored; however, in both laboratory studies of humans and animals, panax ginseng proved successful in relaxing the muscles of the lungs. When it comes to toxins in skin care, cosmetics and personal care products it is hard to find products that are safe and nontoxic. On the other side, Millions of women put on cosmetics every day without ever considering whether dangerous chemicals lurk inside the tube…
I’ve written before about toxins in personal care products, from toothpaste to make up. Now, another study has found that heavy metals in lipsticks and lip glosses are of concern.
Researchers from University of California, Berkeley tested 33 lipsticks and lip glosses commonly found in drugstores and department stores and used by young women in a California youth program. They detected lead, cadmium, chromium, aluminium and five other metals, some of which were found at levels that could raise potential health concerns.
The highest lead levels where found in brands like Procter & Gamble (Cover Girl brand), L’Oréal (L’Oréal, Body Shop and Maybelline brands) and Revlon as well as Dior.
The following results for lead content in a selection of lipsticks were obtained by scientists at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and reported in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (see there for complete list)
High Ingestion Rates
In terms of chemical exposure, that translates into ingesting or absorbing as much as 87 milligrams of product a day.
Now consider that exposure over the course of a lifetime of applying lipstick; that’s a significant level of lead and other toxins to ingest. Some sources speak of ingesting 3kg of lipstick in a lifetime….
Cumulative and long-term Exposure
While the dose of toxic metals might be low per application of lipsticks and lip gloss, the exposure to a little bit of a toxic chemical over an extended period can add up to harm.
The researchers compared what the women were likely ingesting in lip products to health standards for heavy metal consumption like those defined by the EPA for drinking water. They found that average lipstick or lip gloss use in these products resulted in women exceeding daily intake guidelines for aluminium, cadmium, chromium and manganese. In 10 of the products they looked at, daily use meant that a woman would exceed chromium intake recommendations by 100 percent.
High use of these makeup products could result in potential overexposure to aluminium, cadmium and manganese as well. Over time, exposure to high concentrations of manganese has been linked to toxicity in the nervous system.
No Safe Dose
The recent science indicates there is no safe level of lead exposure. Lead is a neurotoxin and can be dangerous at small doses. Medical experts are clear that any level of lead exposure is unhealthy.

Stress creates Toxins and nutritional Imbalances
When we worry and stress over things and situations, we might feel a certain way and start sweating for example. But our physical body produces “pollutants” or “stress toxins”. Over time, our body can get clogged up with these toxins which leave us vulnerable to all kinds of health problems including high blood pressure, ulcers, heart attack and diabetes.
Stress can even kill the beneficial bacteria that live in our gut. So you might want to think twice next time you start to worry about your gut health!
Prolonged stress adversely affects our nutritional status and needs, but our nutrition habits also affect how prone we are to stress, the intensity of our stress response, and our ability to cope with unavoidable stress!
One can say that stress is the cause of all dis-ease – it is known as The Killer Number 1.
Stress effects your whole body
1. Adrenal fatigue. While adrenal fatigue as a disorder is still under dispute in the medical community, most medical professionals will tell you that constantly stressing your adrenals - tiny little glands that sit atop your kidneys and produce cortisol, the stress hormone - leads to an imbalance that, left unchecked, can cause all kinds of problems from inflammation to depression.
2. Memory problems. Studies examining memory have found one major constant that affects what and how well we can remember things. The more stressed out we are, the more our short-term and long-term memories are affected. Chronic stress has also been linked to Alzheimer's disease and dementia in the elderly.
3. Weakened Immune System. Studies have shown that prolonged stress presents strain on the cellular functions that support the immune system. Stress causes hormone imbalances, poor sleep patterns, and wears down on organs. Suppressed immune function readily leads to increased sickness and reduced ability to combat ailments.
4. Unwanted Weight Gain. Some resources suggest that increased hormone cortisol levels related to stress cause weight gain. There is also a strong correlation between stress and weight gain suggesting that ongoing stress patterns generate poor nutrition habits, increased use of food as a support system, and improper meal schedules.
5. Musculoskeletal and Physiological Imbalances. Stress is a highly tacking process that depletes energy from bodily systems affecting work and activity performance. Stress is often a culprit for generating muscle tension throughout the body. This muscle tension is most commonly experienced in the spine with discomfort radiating through the neck, back, and shoulders. Neck tension is often diagnosed as the source of many headaches. Stress also greatly affects digestive function, reproductive organ health, and hormone balance. One can see how readily stress generates hormone and energy imbalances especially for those who have skin disorders like acne and eczema.
6. Aging faster. Look at someone's brain scan and you can't tell their chronological age, but you can tell what age their body thinks it is. The more stress you are under, the "older" your brain looks and acts. All the wrinkle cream in the world can't help you if you are a die-hard stress case.
7. Reduced Quality of Life and Social Relationships. Most people have difficulty managing stress and associate themselves with the factors causing this stress. Without managing stress, this negative energy manifests into emotions and physical reactions. As social beings, others encountering someone else's stress manifestations will either facilitate these stress reactions further (like attracts like) making the environment even worse. Or, those who are sensitive to others' stress responses will choose to remove themselves from this social environment. Stress can adversely affect our relationships with others causing us to lose healthy relationships and foster further negative social relationships.

Why Is Sleep Important?
You probably heard before that sleep is important for your health. Sleep can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. As sleep plays such a vital role your health and well-being throughout your whole life it is crucial to get:
+ enough sleep
+ get good quality sleep
+ sleep at the right times.
During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development.
The damage from sleep deficiency - too short or bad quality sleep - can occur in an instant (such as an accident), or it can harm you over time by raising your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. It also effects your waist line.

While it may seem like losing sleep isn't such a big deal, sleep deprivation has a wide range of negative effects that go way beyond daytime drowsiness. Lack of sleep affects your judgment, coordination, and reaction times. In fact, sleep deprivation can affect you just as much as being drunk.
The effects include:
Sleep deprivation can add to your waistline
Sleep also affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) level. Sleep deficiency results in a higher than normal blood sugar level, which may increase your risk for diabetes.
So, the more sleep you lose, the more food your body will crave.
Not enough sleep can be fatal – for you and others
Some people aren't aware of the risks of sleep deficiency. In fact, they may not even realize that they're sleep deficient. Even with limited or poor-quality sleep, they may still think that they can function well.
For example, drowsy drivers may feel capable of driving. Yet, studies show that sleep deficiency harms your driving ability as much as, or more than, being drunk. It's estimated that driver sleepiness is a factor in about 100,000 car accidents each year, resulting in about 1,500 deaths.
Drivers aren't the only ones affected by sleep deficiency. It can affect people in all lines of work, including you, dear reader and the effects might not just be on a personal level but can cause large-scale damage when human errors cause tragic accidents, such as nuclear reactor meltdowns, grounding of large ships, and aviation accidents.
How much sleep do you need?
For adults under 65 it is recommended to have 7-9h of good quality sleep each night. The best way to figure out if you're meeting your sleep needs is to evaluate how you feel as you go about your day. If you're logging enough sleep hours, you'll feel energetic and alert all day long, from the moment you wake up until your regular bedtime. You could be fine with 6 hours or may need 10.
How to get a good night sleep?
+ Stick to a regular sleep schedule – your body has an inner clock
+ Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, cool and tidy
+ Don’t eat too late and avoid stimulating drinks
+ Do something relaxing before bedtime like a meditation, a hot bath
+ Count your blessings and be grateful for what the day brought to you
+ Any problems, worries that cross your mind – WRITE them down to deal with them another time – it’s important to get them out of your head so you can rest assured “they won’t run away”
